Using Deadline Commands to Reason about Non-terminating Loops Using Deadline Commands to Reason about Non-terminating Loops

چکیده
It is common for a real-time process to consist of a nonterminating loop monitoring an input and controlling an output. Hence a real-time program development method needs to support nonterminating loops. Earlier work on real-time program development has produced a real-time reenement calculus that makes use of a novel deadline command which allows timing constraints to be embedded in real-time programs. The addition of the deadline command to the real-time programming language gives the signiicant advantage of having a real-time programming language that is machine independent. This allows a more abstract approach to the program development process. In this paper we add possibly nonterminating loops to the reenement calculus. First we examine the semantics of possibly nonterminating loops, and use them to reason directly about a simple example. Then we develop simpler reenement rules that make use of a loop invariant.

Propositional Dynamic Logic for Reasoning about First-Class Agent Interaction Protocols
For agents to fulfill their potential of being intelligent and adaptive, it is useful to model their interaction protocols as executable entities that can be referenced, inspected, composed, shared and invoked between agents, all at runtime. We use the term first-class protocol to refer to such protocols. Rather than having hard-coded decision making mechanisms for choosing their next move, age...
متن کاملSolving the tandem AGV network design problem using tabu search: Cases of maximum workload and workload balance with fixed and non-fixed number of loops
A tandem AGV configuration connects all cells of a manufacturing area by means of non-overlapping, sin-gle-vehicle closed loops. Each loop has at least one additional P/D station, provided as an interface between adjacent loops. This study describes the development of three tabu search algorithms for the design of tandem AGV systems. The first algorithm was developed based on the basic definiti...
متن کاملA Multiprocessor System with Non-Preemptive Earliest-Deadline-First Scheduling Policy: A Performability Study
This paper introduces an analytical method for approximating the performability of a firm realtime system modeled by a multi-server queue. The service discipline in the queue is earliestdeadline- first (EDF), which is an optimal scheduling algorithm. Real-time jobs with exponentially distributed relative deadlines arrive according to a Poisson process. All jobs have deadlines until the end of s...
متن کاملParametric and Termination-Sensitive Control Dependence
A parametric approach to control dependence is presented, where the parameter is any prefix-invariant property on paths in the control-flow graph. Existing control dependencies, both direct and indirect, can be obtained as instances of the parametric framework for particular properties on paths. A novel control dependence relation, called termination-sensitive control dependence, is obtained al...
متن کاملA Non-Preemptive Two-Class M/M/1 System with Prioritized Real-Time Jobs under Earliest-Deadline-First Policy
This paper introduces an analytical method for approximating the performance of a two-class priority M/M/1 system. The system is fully non-preemptive. More specifically, the prioritized class-1 jobs are real-time and served with the non-preemptive earliest-deadline-first (EDF) policy, but despite their priority cannot preempt any non real-time class-2 job. The waiting class-2 jobs can only be s...
